Online Master's in Data Analytics and Data Science Programs in Alabama

There is currently one school in the state of Alabama offering two online master’s programs in analytics: The University of Alabama (UA). UA’s Manderson School of Business offers two programs that OnlineEducation.com classifies as master’s in data analytics programs, based on their curricula. Both programs utilize asynchronous instruction, which means that students have on-demand access to videotaped lectures and other course materials, and both are 100% online (no campus visits required).

UA’s Operations Management program offers an online Master of Science in Operations Management (MSOM) with a track in Decision Analytics. The program is offered in conjunction with the school’s Statistical Analysis System (SAS)/Data Mining certification program. The MSOM curriculum focuses on statistical modeling, data mining, and business management IT systems. Students in the Decision Analytics track must complete a Decision Analytics Capstone project. The program is designed to be completed in two years of part-time enrollment and accepts students three times per year, in the fall, spring, and summer.

In addition to the MSOM in Decision Analytics offered by Operations Management program at UA, the university’s Manderson School of Business offers an online Master of Science (MS) in Marketing with a specialization in Marketing Analytics program. The Marketing Analytics curriculum is designed to cultivate statistical modeling and analytics proficiencies that can be applied in strategic marketing management. The program features coursework in data mining, database management, and global business strategies, as well as a Marketing Analytics Capstone project. This is a part-time, professional master’s degree that takes two years to complete. Students are accepted into the program three times per year, in the fall, spring, and summer.

In addition to the in-state programs offered by UA, there are 72 out-of-state schools offering 89 online master’s in analytics programs that accept students from Alabama. This may be an important consideration for students who are looking for an online master’s degree in data science or business intelligence. The majority of the programs offered by out-of-state schools are 100% online and do not require campus visits. The remaining programs listed on OnlineEducation.com require no more than two campus visits per year. While tuition for online programs is often the same for in-state and-out-of state online students, some schools do charge different tuition rates for out-of-state students. Therefore, students should confirm the tuition costs with each school they are considering.
