Among the accredited colleges and universities that have announced plans to launch new online bachelor’s degree and bachelor’s degree completion programs are five large state universities: Arkansas State University; San Jose State University (SJSU); The University of Arizona; University of Arkansas; and the University of Central Florida (UCF). The new programs offered by these schools include Bachelor of Science (BS) programs in digital technology and game design, human resource management, marketing, and special education, and Bachelor of Arts (BA) programs in wellness and health promotion, English, and educational leadership. All of these programs are currently accepting applicants for start dates in 2021 and 2022.

Arkansas State University – Online Bachelor of Science in Digital Technology and Design Program with an Emphasis in Game Design

Arkansas State University in Jonesboro has announced that starting this fall it will offer an online Bachelor of Science (BS) in Digital Technology and Design with an Emphasis in Game Design program. The 120-credit undergraduate program allows students to transfer into the program with up to 90 previously earned college credits. This is a fully online program that does not require students to attend any campus visits.

San Jose State University – Online Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Interdisciplinary Studies Program

San Jose State University (SJSU) in California has announced the launch of its first fully online undergraduate degree program: an online Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Interdisciplinary Studies program. Offered through SJSU’s Connie L. Lurie College of Education, the program has an Educational and Community Leadership focus with pathways in Early Childhood Education and Inclusive Education. The program is designed for students who have already completed a community college associate degree program or the equivalent of two years of general undergraduate coursework. It is a part-time program in which courses are offered year-round and students are expected to graduate with their degree in two years. The first cohort of students is scheduled to begin the program this fall.

The University of Arizona – Online Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Wellness and Health Promotion Practice (WHPP) Program

The 120-credit program gives students the option of three designated tracks: Health and Wellness; Health Education; and Aging and Population Health. This new public health undergraduate degree program is being offered online, and in a campus-based format. While all of the program’s didactic coursework is offered online, students are required to gain practical, hands-on experience through in-person, site-based practicums and internships that take place in community and governmental organizations, businesses, healthcare clinics, hospitals, schools, and other suitable locations. The new program is accepting applications for a start date this fall.

University of Arkansas – Online Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Human Resources Management and Marketing Programs

Three new online bachelor’s programs will be available through the University of Arkansas beginning this fall. Walton College of Business’ existing online Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration program, which also has concentrations in Accounting, General Business, and Supply Chain Management.

All three of the University of Arkansas’ new online bachelor’s degree majors require students to complete 120 hours of undergraduate coursework, which includes general education coursework outside of the chosen major. These online bachelor’s programs are open to students who have not taken any prior college courses and to students who have already completed up to two years of undergraduate coursework, all or most of which may be accepted as transfer credits.
