New Online Bachelor’s Degree Programs – April 2021

A number of accredited colleges and universities have recently launched or announced the launch of new online undergraduate degree programs, including bachelor’s degree and bachelor’s degree completion programs in business administration, marketing, nursing, and human services. Among the schools that are offering new online bachelor’s programs are Louisiana State University (LSU), Georgia State University, Bluffton University, Radford University, and Spring Arbor University (SAU). Most of these programs are fully online and do not require students to attend any campus-based sessions.

Louisiana State University – Online Bachelor of Science (BS) Programs in General Business and in Marketing with a Concentration in Digital Marketing

Louisiana State University (LSU) is offering two new online bachelor’s degree programs: an online Bachelor of Science (BS) in General Business program with concentrations in Business Analytics, Digital Marketing, Human Resource Management, and Information Technology Management; and an online BS in Marketing with a concentration in Digital Marketing. Both programs are being offering through the E.J. Ourso College of Business at LSU and both programs require students to have completed 30 credits of undergraduate college coursework, including a nine-credit core of pre-business courses in English, mathematics, economics, and accounting. To graduate with BS in General Business or Marketing from LSU, students are required to complete a total of 120 credits of coursework, inclusive of the 30 credits necessary for admission to these programs. Of the 120 credits required for the conferral of these degrees, 39 are comprised of general education courses. Students earn their remaining credits in either the General Business or Marketing majors and in specialization requirements.

Georgia State University – Online Bachelor of Science (BS) Completion Program in Dental Hygiene

Georgia State University is one of the first schools in the country to announce the launch of a fully online bachelor’s degree completion program for registered dental hygienists who have already earned an Associate of Science (AS) degree in dental hygiene. The program is designed to be an AS-to-Bachelor of Science (BS) degree pathway for practicing dental hygienists who have already attained licensure in Georgia and who want to expand their career options by earning a bachelor’s degree. The program is being offered jointly by the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions at Georgia State and by Perimeter College at Georgia State University, a professional training division of Georgia State that offers online degree programs and programs at numerous satellite campuses throughout the state. Students in the AS-to-BS program for dental hygienists are given credit for all of their associate degree coursework and are required to complete an additional 60 credits of undergraduate courses in order to earn their bachelor’s degree.

Bluffton University – Online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-to-BSN) Program

Bluffton University, a private, non-profit school located in the Northwest Ohio town of Bluffton, recently launched a new online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program for Registered Nurses (RNs) who hold an associate degree in nursing (ADN) or a nursing diploma from a hospital-based RN training program. This RN-to-BSN program includes 21 credits of general education coursework and 26 credits of upper-level nursing courses. The remaining credits needed to meet the 122-credit requirement for the conferral of a bachelor’s degree from Bluffton University can be earned in elective coursework. Students are required to either transfer into the program with credits from completed undergraduate courses in statistics and medical ethics, or to take one or both of these courses through Bluffton as part of their BSN training.

Radford University – Online Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) Program

Virginia’s Radford University, a private, non-profit school located in the city of Radford, has announced the launch of a new online Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program that has begun accepting applicants. The program is a bachelor’s completion program that is designed for students who hold an associate degree from an accredited community college or who are within six credits of having completed their undergraduate general education requirements. Students who qualify for the program must complete a slate of six online BBA prerequisite courses and nine core course requirements offered by the Davis College of Business and Economics at Radford. In addition, students can choose nine elective courses from Davis College online offerings in order to complete the program’s credit requirements.

Spring Arbor University (SAU) – Online Bachelor of Science (BS) in Human Services Program

Spring Arbor University (SAU), a private, non-profit Christian liberal arts university in Michigan, recently launched a new online Bachelor of Science (BS) in Human Services degree program. The program allows students to earn a bachelor’s degree in human services without having to attend any campus-based classes and to transfer into the program with up to 84 previously earned college credits that count toward the 120 credits required to graduate. The Human services curriculum at SAU includes courses in psychology, lifespan development, sociology, social science research design, and organizational behavior. Students who transfer into the program with an associate degree or at least 60 credits can complete SAU’s BS in Human Services program in less than two years.
