The College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University offers an online Master of Healthcare Innovation (MHI) program as well as a Healthcare Innovation Graduate Certificate. The programs focus on creating leaders who can facilitate change in the healthcare industry. The online MHI program covers topics such as entrepreneurship, evidence-based practice, application technology, financing, systems thinking, evaluating outcomes, healthcare innovation, and healthcare policy.

The Healthcare Innovation Graduate Certificate covers business concepts including project and business planning, budgeting, and effective presentation skills. Learning activities include a personality and change-readiness assessment, case studies, healthcare system intervention, and pitching ideas. Students in both programs complete a capstone course and project.

The Master of Healthcare Innovation can be completed in one year on a full-time basis or two years part-time. Courses begin every 7.5 weeks. The MHI degree comprises 34 credits through 11 courses. The Health Innovation Graduate Certificate comprises 15 credits over five courses. The programs are 100% online with no campus visits required. Neither GMAT/GRE test scores nor work experience is required. Students do not need to have a healthcare background to progress through these programs.

Online students at Arizona State University begin with an online orientation to learn to navigate the online Learning Management System (LMS), which is Canvas. Courses are delivered asynchronously through recorded videos, online simulations, labs, assignments, and testing. Some synchronous activities may be required, and assessments may have a window of completion time. Faculty/peer interaction takes place through online conferencing and multimedia tools.

Courses for the online MHI include Systems Thinking in a Complex Environment; Innovation and the Individual; Healthcare Policy and Innovation; Understanding and Applying Principles of Evidence-Based Practice; Financing for Innovation; Outcomes Evaluation; IT for Healthcare Innovation; Innovation Methods; and Advanced Principles and Concepts of Innovation. In addition students complete Capstone: Final Innovation Project.

Courses for the Healthcare Innovation Graduate Certificate include Innovation and the Individual; Systems Thinking in a Complex Environment; Outcomes Evaluation; Innovation Methods; and the Capstone Course: Innovation Project.

Arizona State University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. The MHI programs are approved by the Arizona State Board of Nursing (AZBN) and accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
