The Joseph I. Lubin School of Accounting under the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University offers an online Master of Science in Professional Accounting degree. The Accounting@Syracuse program offers a path for those with an accounting bachelor’s degree as well as a non-accounting bachelor’s degree. In addition, students can take more than two courses per term as an accelerated track. Topics covered include international accounting, business strategy, management accounting, information management, auditing, cost analysis, taxation, and financial statement analysis. This program prepares students to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.
Students may begin Accounting@Syracuse four times per year. Those with an accounting BS can complete the degree in 12 months through the accelerated program by taking two terms of three courses and two terms of two courses each. In addition, those with a BS in accounting degree can follow a 15-month path taking two courses per term for five terms. Those without an accounting BS degree may need up to 24 months to complete the program. Courses are offered 100% online with no campus visits required.

Syracuse University utilizes the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) and courses include assessments, case studies, interactive content, and guest lectures, all of which can be utilized offline through the Syracuse mobile app. In addition, students meet live weekly in face-to-face meetings with faculty and peers in small classes, for discussion, collaboration, and live learning. The face-to-face sessions are recorded for later reference. All online students also receive a global membership to WeWork which is a global workspace where students can conduct study groups, attend events, and use WeWork amenities. Finally, students have access to a multitude of services including Syracuse’s worldwide network of professionals, one-on-one coaching, career services, and 24/7 technical support.
Accounting@Syracuse comprises 30 credits for those with an accounting bachelor’s degree. Core courses include Advanced Topics in Auditing; Financial Statement Analysis; Taxes & Business Strategy; and International Accounting & Reporting. Electives include Accounting Analytics; Venture Capital; Principles of Fraud Examination; Corporate Financial Policy & Strategy; Project Management; and Supply Chain & Logistics Management.
For those with a non-accounting bachelor’s degree, Accounting@Syracuse comprises up to 48 credits. Foundational courses may be completed prior to or during completion of the MS degree. These courses include Financial Accounting; Cost Analysis & Control; Principles of Taxation; Intermediate Financial Accounting I-II; Managerial Accounting; Auditing Theory & Practice; and Advanced Financial Accounting.
