SNHU’s online MS in Finance offers 5 start dates per year in March, May, August, October, and December. The program is 100% online with no campus visits required. It can be completed in as little as 15 months by taking 2 courses per 10-week term. Students may be eligible for course waivers or exemptions if they have an undergraduate degree or concentration in finance.
SNHU utilizes Brightspace as its online learning management system. This format allows more personalized and engaged learning and works on laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Instructors utilize innovative teaching methods to keep learning engaging and collaborative. The MS in Finance program follows an asynchronous format with all materials for each week’s lesson clearly laid out for greater flexibility and better time management. Students engage with peers and faculty through multimedia tools, discussion boards, email, chat, and phone conversations. An added benefit for MS in Finance students is SNHUconnect, an online student portal where students share ideas, collaborate on projects, and get feedback from faculty, peers, and alumni.
The online MS in Finance is comprised of 36 credits, including 27 credits of major courses and 9 credits of major electives or a concentration. Core courses may include Managerial Economics, Money and Capital Markets, Corporate Financial Management, Financial Modeling, Investment Analysis & Portfolio Management, Risk Management, International Corporate Finance and Quantitative Analysis for Decision Making. In addition, students complete a graduate finance capstone. General electives include courses like Short-Term Financial Management, Capital Budgeting & Financing and Option Analysis & Financial Derivatives. Students without a finance background may need to complete foundation courses including Mathematics and Statistics for Business, Economics for Business and Financial Reporting and Analysis.
The corporate finance concentration includes courses like Short-Term Financial Management, Creating Value: Merger/Acquisition and Long-Term Financing & Capital Structure Theory.
The investments and securities concentration includes courses like Analytical Tools in Portfolio Management, International Investments/Portfolio Management and Option Analysis & Financial Derivatives.
