Northeastern University - Master of Science in Finance with Two Concentrations

As of October 2021, D’Amore-McKim leadership has made the decision to temporarily pause enrollment for online study of this degree while they build the curricular framework for the next generation of this program.

The D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University offers an online Master of Science in Finance (MSF) with two concentrations: Corporate Finance and Investment Finance. The program is designed for experienced finance professionals who want to advance their careers while continuing to work.

The online MS in Finance offers six start dates per year in January, April, May, September, October, and December. The program is 100% online with no campus visits required and can be completed in 16 months, part-time. Students take one course per term, completing core courses the first year, and capstone and electives the second year. GMAT test scores or five years of professional work experience are required for admission.

Northeastern University uses the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) which offers several multimedia tools, and access to lectures, podcasts, readings, assignments, group projects, discussion boards, email, and chat. Courses are offered asynchronously and the experiential, real-world curriculum helps students apply their learning immediately to their profession. Case studies are included in courses to promote the professional practice side of learning. Students also have access to over 245,000 alumni and over 3,000 business partners, providing a wealth of networking opportunities.

The online MS in Finance comprises 30 credits including 18 credits of required courses and 12 credits of electives. Core courses include Financial Theory and Policy; Investment Analysis; Financial Strategy; Analysis of Financial Institutions and Markets; Finance Seminar; and International Finance Management. Electives for the concentrations include Financial Risk Management; Fixed Income Securities and Risk; Investment Banking; Mergers and Acquisitions; Business Turnarounds; Valuation and Value Creation; Real Estate Finance and Investment; Personal Financial Planning; and Portfolio Management.
