Maryville University - Online Bachelor of Science in Accounting

The John E. Simon School of Business at Maryville University offers an online Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree program. This degree can help aspiring business professionals develop the skills and expertise needed to begin a career in finance, and can seamlessly lead into a master’s degree in accounting, which Maryville also offers online. In fact, students interested in continuing with the master’s degree can choose three courses for credit towards that very degree. The BS in Accounting covers subjects such as computer applications, principles of finance, macroeconomics, business policies, microeconomics, auditing, and individual income taxes. This 128-credit bachelor’s program can be completed in four years full-time, taking about 15-16 credits per semester. The BS in Accounting program is 100% online and does not require any campus visits.

Maryville University utilizes Canvas, a Learning Management System (LMS) that supports synchronous (real-time, scheduled) and asynchronous (non-scheduled) instruction. Students participate in synchronous discussions with classmates and professors, as well as having access to asynchronous video lectures, discussion boards, VoiceThread presentations through which students complete assignments, and slideshows. A unique feature for the learning modules is that each module links to all of the materials needed for the week including readings, discussion boards, activities, and assignments.

The Maryville online Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree comprises 13 business core courses including Digital Foundations; Business Communications; Financial Accounting; Business Statistics; Business Law; Principles of Management; and more. In addition students complete seven accounting courses including Forensic Accounting and Ethics I; Financial Reporting I-II; Advanced Managerial Accounting; Accounting Information Systems; Auditing; and Accounting Theory.

Students can then go on to choose three early access courses that apply to the MS in Accounting degree or two professional accounting courses. Students also complete general degree requirements to fulfill the total required credits for the BS degree.

Upon completion of the degree students will be prepared to sit for their Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.

Maryville University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The John E. Simon School of Business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
