Indiana University - Online Master of Science in Business Analytics Program

The Kelley School of Business at Indiana University offers a Master of Science in Business Analytics degree that focuses on using the technologies and techniques of data analytics to make strategic business decisions. Students learn about data warehousing, operations management, and econometrics, and explore how predictive analytics is used in marketing and the development of business strategies. This is a 30-credit master’s degree that is designed to be completed in 15 months by full-time students; part-time students have up to five years to complete the degree. The program includes 10 required courses, as well as an intensive seven-day introductory session held on location at Indiana University’s Bloomington campus at the start of the program.

The MS in Business Analytics degree utilizes a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction. While some lectures and most course materials are available to students on-demand through an online learning platform, many courses include a weekly live lecture scheduled at a designated time, usually in the evening. There are also class projects that encourage teams of students to collaborate using the online learning platform.

The curriculum adheres to a four-term academic calendar that allows students to complete the requirements in five terms by following a sequence of two classes per term. Students begin by attending the on-campus Kelley Connect Week, which includes a Topics in Directed Business Interaction introductory class, and gives students an opportunity to meet faculty and interact with other students. The online coursework that follows covers subject areas like: Quantitative Analysis; Data Warehousing and Visualization; Operations Management; Simulation and Optimization for Business Analytics; Business Econometrics; Predictive Analytics for Business Strategy; Developing Value through BA Applications; Thinking Strategically: Game Theory and Business Strategy; and Strategic Marketing Management.
