Davenport University - Online Master of Science in Data Analytics Program
The College of Arts and Sciences at Davenport University offers an online Master of Science in Data Analytics degree that focuses on using the tools and technology of big data to craft real-world business solutions. Students learn about analytics software programming, machine learning, data mining, statistical modeling, and data visualization. The program encompasses 10 three-credit courses (30 credits), including an Applied Data Analytics Capstone, and can be completed by part-time students in five semesters, or two-and-a-half years. The degree is 100% online and requires no campus visits.
Most of the coursework in Davenport’s online MS in Data Analytics is conducted through asynchronous instruction. This means that students are able to access video lectures and other course materials on-demand using the school’s online learning platform. Assignments and exams must be completed according to a set schedule using the online learning platform, which also allows students to communicate with professors and classmates. In addition, some courses utilize a “live classroom” audio and video tool for synchronous, real-time instruction. These sessions require students to be online at specific times in order to participate in group discussions and interactive presentations.
The MS in Data Analytics program features an interdisciplinary curriculum developed in partnership with the university’s College of Business, College of Technology, College of Health Professions, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Classes are meant to be taken sequentially over five semesters, and in the Fall the program enrolls a new cohort of students who then progress together through two courses each semester. There are four foundational and six advanced courses in Data Analytics that cover subjects like: Data Methods for Business Analytics; Principles of Data Warehousing; Cloud Computing; and Statistical Analysis for Data Analytics. The capstone project, or Applied Data Analytics II, is taken in the final semester, and it gives students the opportunity to put their analytics training to work by designing and implementing a unique data analysis project.
Davenport University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
