Creighton University - Online Master of Science in Analytics program

Creighton University’s Heider College of Business offers an online Master of Science (MS) in Analytics program that targets business applications of big data. The program focuses on training in data technologies and the principles of effective and ethical management, and it features optional concentrations in Business and Marketing. Students in the program learn about business IT systems, and how organizations use these data systems to make better, more informed decisions. This is an 11-course degree that requires 33 credits for graduation. It is designed to be completed in two years by students who take one or two courses per semester, and it requires no campus visits.

The Heider College of Business uses a cohort model with asynchronous instruction for its online master’s degree programs. Students proceed through the two-year program as a group, or cohort, interacting with faculty and classmates through online discussion boards. Lectures and other course materials are available on-demand to students through an online learning system. Assignments and exams are submitted online according to a clearly defined schedule.

Creighton University’s MS in Analytics program requires the completion of 11 courses that a cover a range of data analysis proficiencies and data technologies. Students take foundational courses in Mathematics for Data Analytics and Statistics for Data Analytics, as well a Research Methodology and Design course and a Predictive Analytics course. These courses provide a framework for advanced coursework in areas such as data visualization, relational database design and management, and business intelligence systems. Students who choose the general analytics curriculum complete the following courses: Applications of Optimization Modeling; Survey of Business Intelligence and Analytics; Data Visual Analysis Visualization; Machine Learning; Database Management Systems; Data Warehousing and Advanced Database Systems; and Business Ethics and Society. Students who opt for the a Business or Marketing concentration substitute two courses in one of those areas for the Machine Learning and Business Ethics and Society courses.
