Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing

Since 1939, Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing has been the leading school in the country for training nurse-midwives. The goal of the school is to provide the training and education necessary so that nurses can remain in their own communities while obtaining graduate education. The aim of this program is to increase the number of nurse-midwives who are able to work in underserved communities.

Courses are taught in 12-week terms, each designed in an asynchronous format to allow students the flexibility they need to complete their studies without disrupting their schedules. In general, full-time students can complete the program in 24 months, and part-time students in 36 months.

Frontiers orientation program prepares students for distance learning before they begin so that they are comfortable and ready to start their classes. Faculty is available for guidance throughout the program via computer forums, email and phone. Some of the courses are designed to be interactive with student’s own communities.
