Individuals who are returning home from military service may find that many things are different than when they left. Friends have moved away, significant others have moved on with their lives and jobs may seem harder to come by than when they left to join the armed forces.

However, enrolling in an online degree program may help them to ease the transition back into civilian life. Virtual classes may give them a reason to get out of bed in the morning, while providing them with an education that could greatly improve their chances of landing a job.

Despite these clear benefits, some veterans may still be reluctant to enroll in an online college. They may worry that returning to an academic setting will be too difficult after spending years away. However, former servicemen and women may find many opportunities to lower the cost and eliminate much of the stress associated with returning to school

Veterans are eligible for the G.I. Bill, which reimburses soldiers for education costs. The rate of reimbursement depends on the length of their service, but they can receive money for tuition, books, living expenses and relocation costs. Pursing this funding source may greatly reduce the cost of earning a degree.

Generations of former soldiers have used the G.I. Bill to help decrease the burden of paying for college. The program can greatly improve access to higher education for veterans.

Once paying for education has been solved, the next step is to clear the hurdle of returning to the academic world. Military service is a drastically different environment than taking classes. However, online classes may help ease the transition. They are often more flexible than classroom-based programs, and students may find that they can fit the work into their schedules more easily, which could reduce stress.

Additionally, they will not be subject to feeling like they are falling behind their classmates. This may boost their confidence and make it easier to perform to the best of their ability.

By taking advantage of these opportunities, veterans may greatly improve their career prospects. Many employers now view a bachelor’s degree as a minimum qualification for employment. When this certification is paired with the leadership and problem-solving skills learned in the military, servicemen and women may find that they are highly demanded by employers.

As the recession begins to subside, many industries are beginning to revamp their recruitment efforts. Although a college degree is a pivotal qualification among most employers, in some fields – such as information technology – they are virtually mandatory.

Fortunately, a great deal of campus-based and online schools are making this certification more accessible to recent high school graduates and nontraditional students who are looking to enter lucrative sectors. In fact, many companies are working with these institutions to ensure that talented degree seekers gain the skills they will need to succeed. For instance, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) recently partnered with a New York-based school to offer a $10,000 scholarship to students who are pursuing higher education in information studies.

Applicants are required to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be able to prove their need for financial assistance. Recipients of these funds will also have the opportunity to complete an internship with CSC, which could introduce them to the real-world elements of their prospective career paths.

Working adults and recent high school graduates who wish to learn a new craft in an effort to change careers may want to consider enrolling in a convenient online degree program, which could allow them to enter their field of choice quickly. However, some of these prospective students may worry that a full-time course of study will take up too much of their time and send them into a financial hole.

Fortunately, many campus-based and online colleges are beginning to recognize their students’ need for tuition assistance. In fact, a great deal of these institutions are beginning to ask government organizations and private groups to support them in their efforts to help their students pay for school.

For example, several community colleges in West Virginia recently asked lawmakers for a $4 million grant, part of which would be used to increase financial assistance programs for enrollees, CBS affiliate Channel 59 reports.

If it is approved, this government funding will also be used to improve each of the schools’ offerings in high-demand fields. These include areas of study that could lead to careers in fast-growing industries, including medical assistance, homeland security, nursing, baking and pastry arts, wind technology as well as accounting.

Several other schools across the country are following suit by making their programs more affordable and flexible for students who have professional or family responsibilities to address. Many of these institutions are making more online courses – which can eliminate expenses associated with commuting and books – available to their enrollees.

Some campus-based and online schools are also working with organizations to make financial aid more accessible to their students. Degree candidates may seek scholarship or grant opportunities through their school’s chapter of national interest groups or clubs, for example.

Nontraditional learners may also qualify for funding from tuition assistance providers that are not affiliated with their college of choice. Many of these groups are increasing their efforts to offer financial aid packages for underprivileged students, such as single mothers grants or scholarships for victims of domestic abuse.

No matter what motivation working students or recent high school graduates have for enrolling in a campus-based or online degree program, they should not let financial woes get in the way of their goals.

Many moms and dads realize early on that their children will have no problem pointing out their shortcomings. For some parents, this revelation comes as soon as their kids ask for help with their sixth-grade math homework, while others may feel inadequate as soon as their sons or daughters start applying to campus-based or online colleges.

Fortunately, there are many ways for parents to sharpen their skills and ensure that they will be able to help their kids in various situations. Online courses are one method, as these classes can allow nontraditional students to further their education without falling behind on family or work responsibilities.

Individuals who wish to brush up on their basic math skills may consider enrolling in an introductory course that examines algebra or long division. Many of these abilities become lost when students no longer have a reason to use them, so parents whose kids are entering higher levels of education may need to refresh their knowledge of certain subject areas.

Web-based learning could enable moms and dads to update thier academic skills while their children are at school. In the afternoon or evening, they can apply what they have learned to help the kids with their homework.

Parents who understand what their sons and daughters are learning in school may be able to devise more effective ways of helping them absorb material. Online education may help them realize what areas of a particular topic are the most difficult and enable them to better address these subjects if their kids have trouble comprehending them.

Mothers and fathers who are constantly learning may be able to gain more respect from their children than parents who are unable or unwilling to make similar efforts.

Highly educated individuals may be able to foster stronger relationships with their kids, as they will be able to establish themselves as reputable sources of information and assistance.

Furthermore, moms and dads who take foundational classes in an effort to help their children may put themselves on the path to a college degree. Whether they are working toward an associate’s degree or considering enrolling in graduate school, busy parents can use online courses to jumpstart their educational efforts without disrupting their current routines.

In the not-so-distant past, recent high school graduates were expected to pack up their belongings and head off to a traditional college. Most lived on campus and went to classes five days per week and engaged in traditional college experiences on the weekends. However, due to the growth of online classes, this paradigm is changing.

These days, many students have far too many commitments to enroll in a traditional degree program. Most have jobs and some have families that they need to support. These responsibilities can make it nearly impossible to complete a full-time, classroom-based program.

However, this does not mean that the need for a degree has diminished. If anything, it has grown. Following the recent economic downturn, many professionals have been left without a job. This means that the companies that are hiring can pick only the most qualified candidates for vacant positions. A bachelor’s degree is now considered a minimum requirement for most jobs.

For these reasons, many young job seekers are now turning to online degree programs. Virtual classes offer students the flexibility to complete work on their own schedule. Being present for lectures at the same time every week is no longer necessary. Course assignments can be completed whenever it is convenient for the student.

This has allowed online learners to attend to their other responsibilities while they are earning their degree. Students who have jobs can complete their coursework after they have returned home for the night. Course materials are always available and deadlines are often flexible. This means that professionals could even complete their work during their lunch break.

Additionally, students who have children can fit their work around their parental responsibilities. Night classes may no longer interfere with putting dinner on the table. Online classes may also allow parents to experience more of the joys of raising a child, such as tucking them into bed at night or dropping them off at school in the morning.

Online colleges are challenging many of the conventions of traditional higher education. This includes the idea that earning a degree has to be expensive. Many virtual programs now offer tuition that is significantly lower than traditional brick-and-mortar schools. This, in addition to the other perks of online education, is making the benefits of earning a degree available to a broader range of individuals.

Individuals who choose to serve their country can reap many benefits after they have returned from active duty. Former soldiers may choose to continue their career in the military in an effort to achieve job security, while others may decide to take advantage of the GI Bill and pursue a college degree.

This program enables veterans to attend a campus-based or online school without accumulating a great deal of educational debt, as a large portion – if not all – of these students’ tuition is covered through government funding. In addition, beneficiaries receive a stipend for living expenses and other fees.

Although many of their financial needs can be covered by this program, some military veterans may still wish to take on a civilian job while they are pursuing a degree in an effort to gain experience. These individuals can benefit from online courses, which can allow them to hold a job and keep up with their studies simultaneously.

Web-based learning allows students to take classes on their own terms. Because online degree seekers are able to complete their coursework from anywhere they can find an internet connection, they can ensure that they will not fall behind in their studies if they have to travel for professional or personal reasons.

In addition, these courses of study give enrollees the flexibility to learn when it is convenient for them. Technical innovations have made it possible for students to listen to a video lecture on their lunch break or complete their assignments after they have finished their workday.

Military veterans may have an advantage in online education, as they typically have the discipline that is required to succeed in internet-based degree programs. Individuals who enroll in online courses are required to track their own progress and ensure that they are completing their assignments on time.

Former soldiers can harness the disciplinary characteristics that they gained during active-duty service to make their own learning schedule and complete their coursework in a timely manner. These skills may also help them balance their family, school and professional responsibilities.

Some veterans may feel that they have a disadvantage in the job market after they have left the military. However, online degree programs can enable them to prepare for a new career and help them compete with civilian job seekers.

American students are falling behind their international counterparts in the academic areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). While this may be a negative thing for the future of the country’s technology sector, it may benefit students who are looking to enroll in a campus-based or online degree program in these fields.

Many organizations are seeking to increase the number of students entering STEM programs by offering scholarships. They believe that making degrees in the sciences more financially attractive, a greater number of top students will pursue degrees in the field.

For example, a Kentucky-based university was recently awarded a $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to help provide scholarships to students pursuing STEM degrees, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

American students rank 35th in math knowledge and 29th in science skills worldwide, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. Experts blame these scores largely on a lack of interest from students.

However, scholarship programs could revive interest in STEM fields and help American students become more competitive internationally.

Due to the economic downturn, many working adults have decided to enroll in a campus-based or online school in order to start or complete a degree program. Some of these individuals are earning certifications that can help them advance in their current fields, while others are gaining new skill sets that will help them launch entirely different careers.

Due to the economic downturn, many working adults have decided to enroll in a campus-based or online school in order to start or complete a degree program. Some of these individuals are earning certifications that can help them advance in their current fields, while others are gaining new skill sets that will help them launch entirely different careers.

Whichever professional path they choose, very few working students have the time or finances to complete a full-time, four-year degree program. As a result, many community colleges are beginning to enhance their two-year program offerings in an effort to help enrollees who wish to finish school quickly. Associate’s degree programs can enable students to focus heavily on a particular subject and apply their new skills to the workforce.

Individuals who choose to enroll in an online degree program will be able to hold onto their current jobs, as they will have the option to complete their coursework whenever they have free time. These programs may also serve as ample preparation for a four-year degree program. Associate’s degree seekers may complete classes that are required for certain bachelor’s tracks, such as Introduction to Psychology, and save themselves time and money later in their academic careers.

In some cases, students who complete an associate’s program can begin pursuing a higher degree immediately. Many community colleges are now offering two-year courses of study that are intended to help enrollees complete two programs at the same time. Enrollees in these programs may be able to graduate with both associate’s and bachelor’s certifications after four years of study.

However, some students may not be interested in continuing their education past the associate’s level – at least, not immediately. These individuals may know exactly which career path they wish to pursue and hope to earn a two-year degree that will enable them to succeed in their field. For these degree seekers, online courses may be an ideal learning method, as they allow students to work at their own pace.

As a result, enrollees may be able to concentrate heavily on their coursework in order to complete a program in as little time as possible. Whatever their motive for earning a degree, individuals who wish to enroll in an associate’s program now have many options. Due to online education, these students can improve their credentials at a rate that suits their needs.

Many individuals who become parents at a young age may feel that their children’s needs are more important than their own goals, which may include earning a college degree. However, online education can help mothers and fathers follow their dreams without neglecting their kids.

Many individuals who become parents at a young age may feel that their children’s needs are more important than their own goals, which may include earning a college degree. However, online education can help mothers and fathers follow their dreams without neglecting their kids. In fact, an online degree could help these individuals lead their families to a better life.

These certifications can lead parents into higher-paying jobs, which could help them ensure that their children are raised in comfortable homes. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, associate’s degree holders earn an average of $73 more per week than workers who only have a high school diploma. Furthermore, parents who are in college can inspire their kids to follow in their footsteps and pursue higher education.

These possibilities have become goals for Marilyn DeAlba, a single mother who recently began a college degree program. The Silicon Valley Mercury News reports that after giving birth to a son with cerebal palsy and torticollis at 13 years of age, DeAlba secured a job and earned her high school diploma.

In previous decades, individuals who wanted to improve their education had no choice but to enroll in a traditional campus-based program. This forced them to devote much of their time to traveling to and from classes, and sitting through long lectures.

However, technology has made it possible for degree seekers to avoid many of the inconveniences that are commonly associated with higher education. Online classes allow students to fit coursework into their own schedule, making earning a degree more suited to their lifestyle.

Online colleges offer enrollees much more flexibility than classroom-based programs. Students can view a virtual lecture whenever they have free time. They may be able to turn in assignment while they are sitting on the couch. Final exams can be completed at the dining room table. The possibilities for fulfilling course requirements are nearly endless.

This flexibility may also enable learners to stay at their current job while they work toward a degree. Unlike traditional college programs that require students to be in the classroom at particular times every week, online classes enable individuals to make their own schedules. This means they can satisfy their school responsibilities after they have returned home from work.

By continuing to work while they pursue a degree, students may be able to pay for their education as they go. This may result in significantly less debt after they have completed their education. While student loans have come to play an important part of higher education for many individuals, they can also add thousands of dollars to the cost of earning a degree.

Technological advancements have made it possible for more schools to launch online degree programs and an increased number of learners to enroll in these programs. Due to the proliferation of virtual classes, there are now programs offered in nearly every field of study. Regardless of the subject students are interested in pursuing, they are likely to find an online degree program that matches their aspirations.

Online education has lowered many of the barriers that degree seekers formerly faced. By making higher education available to a greater number of individuals, online college programs have changed the face of education.

Given these benefits, many students may be interested in pursuing a degree through online classes. The decision may be an economic one that allows them to quickly increase their earning power and seek employment in exciting fields.

Individuals who choose to enter the military often do so straight out of high school. This often leaves veterans with little formal education beyond their diploma. Due in part to this fact, former soldiers have significantly higher unemployment rates than the general population.

The problem has grown worse in recent years. Despite their sacrifices, many employers are unwilling to give these individuals a shot at a job. Many hiring managers now consider a bachelor’s degree to be a minimum requirement for employment, and military training is often not seriously considered on its own.

However, soldiers may be able to overcome these post-military hurdles by enrolling in online classes while they are still serving. Coming home from active duty with a degree in hand may significantly improve their career prospects, especially when it is combined with leadership and problem-solving skills that may have been acquired while serving.

Soldiers may find many opportunities to complete online classes while they are serving. The ubiquity of high-speed internet has made it possible for individuals who are on active service to connect to the outside world. While most men and women use their time on the internet to communicate with friends and family back home, it may be possible to complete course requirements during this time.

Unlike traditional courses that require students to spend multiple hours in the classroom, the time that learners spend at the computer in online degree programs is far less. They may be able to complete most of the work – whether it be writing a paper, completing a reading assignment or planning message board responses – offline.

Proper planning may allow military degree seekers to post their assignments and view virtual lectures in the amount of computer time they are allotted. The ability to complete assignments around the students schedule may make online classes a good fit for soldiers.

Additionally, online degree programs allow learners to put their progress on hold. This may be important if soldiers are sent off to remote parts of the world that do not have reliable access to the internet. They may be able to simply pick up where they left off once they return to urban areas.

Earning a degree while serving may significantly improve soldiers’ chances of landing a job once they return to civilian life. While classes may make their time on active duty a little busier, they could pay off later.

An increasing number of schools are reporting that their online degree programs are growing at a much faster rate than their traditional classroom-based offerings. Many experts have called online learning the future of education.

Online classes offer students significant advantages over classroom-based learning. Students often enjoy the format due the flexibility that they offer. Degree seekers can log into their class at any time, replying to message board threads or viewing virtual lectures whenever they can find the time. This is major diversion from traditional formats, which forced students to be in class at a set time every week.

This flexibility has allowed students to continue fulfilling their other responsibilities while they work toward their degree. This has allowed many individuals who may have been too busy to enroll in traditional classes – such as parents and busy professionals – to pursue a degree. Online classes have opened the doors to higher education to a greater number of people.

Additionally, online degree programs allow learners to proceed at their own pace. If they miss a point made in a virtual lecture they can simply rewind it back to the section they did not understand. This may be particularly useful to individuals who have been away from an academic setting for several years and are not accustomed to taking notes or following lectures.

Similarly, if students want to progress through their online degree program, they may be able to. Many schools allow their virtual degree seekers to take on an additional work load, enabling them to move through requirements to complete their degree more quickly.

As technology improves, universities are able to improve the quality of online classes. In recent years, they have become much more interactive, connecting students to each other and their teachers. This multi-directional communication has allowed schools to deliver a learning experience that comes closer to face-to-face courses, and even offers some additional advantages.

Some schools now offer multimedia components as part of their online classes. These interactive animations may help students to better visualize complex concepts in science and mathematics. These may benefit students who are visual learners.

Due in part to the increased demand for online classes, many schools are working to deliver innovative learning experiences that may take their students beyond what is possible in a classroom.

The prevalence of technology has changed the way that people do many things. Most jobs now require workers to interact with a computer for the majority of their days. Online networking sites have made it easier for individuals to stay in touch with their friends and families. The internet has also made a greater range of entertainment options available.

Technology has also had a significant impact on education in recent years. The proliferation of high-speed internet and computers has made it easier for colleges to offer online classes. These virtual programs offer students many advantages, of which a growing number of individuals are taking advantage.

For example, online degree programs allow students to make their own schedules. This enables them to continue living up to their family or professional responsibilities. Virtual learners may be able to complete an online exam after they have put their children to bed or view a lecture after they have returned home from work.

Online colleges generally offer financial advantages over their classroom-based counterparts. The per-credit cost of classes is often reduced due to the fact that the school doesn’t have to pay for any of the overhead associated with a physical campus. These savings may them be passed along to the students.

Additionally, technology has allowed online classes to do away with many of the other costs associate with earning a degree. For example, many virtual programs are now using electronic text books for their courses. Due to the fact that these materials do not need to go through the traditional production process, they are sometimes less expensive. Text books are one of the largest unseen costs associated with college that few students ever consider.

Students may also benefit financially from the flexible schedule afforded by online classes. The ability to make their own schedule may allow professionals who are pursuing degrees to stay at their current job and continue working. This may make it easier to pay for costs as they arise rather than resorting to loans. Interest charges from this type of financial aid may add thousands of dollars to the cost of earning a degree.

Students often don’t think about many of the costs associated with pursuing a degree at a campus-based university. Between transportation, room and board and lost wages, traditional programs may be too pricy. However, online degree programs allow students to do away with many of these expenses.

When parents are discussing with one another ways to improve their family’s financial standing, topics covered generally include spending less, opening a savings account or eliminating certain expenditures from their monthly bills. Few parents ever discuss spending more money.

However, by putting money toward a campus-based or online degree program, parents may be able to significantly improve their earning power. It has been established that individuals with more education tend to earn better salaries. Going back to school may help parents provide a better quality of life for their families.

Parents often think that it is too late for them to return to school. They may feel that they have been away from an academic setting for so long that returning would be too difficult. Additionally, some moms and dads may be daunted by the thought of adding an academic program to their family and professional responsibilities.

These parents may not be aware that recent developments in education have made it easier for individuals in their positions to pursue a degree. Many schools have recently launched online programs that allow students to complete their coursework whenever they can find the time. This means they can set their own schedule.

Parents may be able to turn in assignments after they have returned home from work or write a paper after they have put their children to bed. Additionally, they may be spared the time it takes for students in traditional programs to travel to and from classes. This can be a tremendous waste of time.

The time saved may be spent on more productive activities. Nearly all parents say that they would like to spend more time with their children. Enrolling in online classes may allow them to do this. Rather than spending all their free time in the library or commuting, parents who are enrolled in virtual classes may be able to take their children to the park or watch a movie after picking them up from school.

But most of all, online classes may help parents improve their earning power. By competing for upper-level jobs and higher salaries, moms and dads may be able to provide a better quality of life for their children. Additionally, pursuing education may help them act as a positive role model, and inspire their children to follow in their footsteps.

Sometimes the unexpected happens, and there is no way around it other than to make accommodations and adapt. Many people have kids before or during their college careers. There are even times when people choose to start their families at such times. Regardless of how it happens, often times, the college education of the parents gets put on the back burner because of the busy schedule and financial responsibilities involved with parenthood.

The time commitment and cost of a college education do not always bode well with the demands of raising a child. Sometimes, something’s compromised, and usually it’s the parents’ education. There are instances however where it is affordable to seek child care and stay in school, but many college students are financially strapped and can’t afford both the costs of a child and educational expenses; it is even harder for single parents to juggle.

So what if you are a parent who has already earned a college degree and wants to go back for more schooling? You might want that Master’s degree or PhD that you have always dreamed of achieving, but being a parent might be your first priority, causing you to put that dream on hold.

Never underestimate your abilities! With online college (big thanks to technology!), parents are able to earn their degrees while still tending to their children. It may take a little adjusting since you will need to arrange your schedule accordingly, but with online degree programs, you can take your courses from the comfort of your own home at your own pace. Also, you can cut the costs associated with traditional college, such as transportation, room and board, etc. Child care shouldn’t be a big issue considering you won’t have to leave home to go to class.

Individuals are able to earn an assortment of degrees from vocational certificates all the way to doctorate degrees, and financial aid opportunities are applicable to online degrees. If you are indeed a single parent, be sure to seek out grants specifically designed for single parents. This is an investment for both you and your child that will be invaluable to you once you have your degree in hand. Not only will you be able to better provide for your child, but you will stand as a role model for him/her.

When post-secondary education becomes the topic of discussion, most people tend to talk about 4 years of college and earning a Bachelor’s degree, the typical college experience, moving into a dorm, etc. That just might not be everyone’s academic pursuit though. Given that earning a 4-year degree is well-respected and deemed the traditional route to take, some prefer to exceed the Bachelor’s degree, while others are content with an Associate’s degree, and some find themselves benefiting from career college, also commonly referred to as vocational or trade school.

Career college is not just for those who opt out of the other education options, but also can be for people who find themselves laid off and needing to find a new job or looking for a change in pace, those who want to improve on current skill sets, and individuals who want to enter the workforce as quickly as possible. Those who choose this path may even be doing so to explore a particular field to see if they like it enough before going all the way with a Bachelor’s degree. The great thing about vocational and trade school programs is that they prepare their students for immediate employment with the skills to show for it.

Some areas of profession that stem from career college include culinary arts, massage therapy, construction, plumbing, vet tech, appliance repair, cosmetology, automotive, paralegal work, medical billing, electrical tech…and the list goes on. Each area is unique in itself in that it requires a particular set of skills in order to fulfill the job. These skills are acquired through specialized programs that can take as little as several months to usually no more than 2 years.

Individuals can earn their education either by attending programs at local community colleges or through online college programs. Some programs even help their students find jobs so they can be ready to apply their skills pretty much right after they are handed their certification. Also, it’s important to keep in mind that financial aid is offered for career college, whether it be from scholarships, grants, loans, or tuition reimbursement.

No matter what your particular situation or reason for choosing career college, there is no better time to sign up and enroll into a program than right now. The opportunities are endless, and you will thank yourself when you earn your first paycheck. Employers are eagerly waiting for your application!

Technology is always a safe bet when looking for a lucrative occupation. It seems like since the dot-com book that any career opportunity involving computers is a smart thing to look into. Especially the computer support specialist field.

Healthcare is the subject of much controversy these days, but that only highlights how important it is. When most people think of “healthcare” they think of nurses and doctors, however there is a wide variety of options. Two growing positions, for example, are massage therapists and athletic trainers.

Actuarial Science is also a growing industry. Not sure what that is? Don’t worry, it’s not a commonly known job title but those who have heard of it usually associate it with two things: (1) the movie “Along Came Polly” starring Ben Stiller who plays an ‘actuary’ (as they are called) and (2) making very good pay checks. Normally ‘actuaries’ work for insurance providers working with risk assessment. If you like math, this is definitely a field worth looking into.

Another good job option is being a curator for a museum. If it’s a particularly nice museum you could be looking at some good money, and when you’re interested in pursuing a career in the arts it’s rare to find a job that actually pays well.

The social service industry also has some expanding positions. If you are a good typer and a stickler for taking notes, you might want to think about being a court reporter. These are the people who sit at the stenograph machine and record every word that is said to help ensure a fair trial.

Whatever field you decide to pursue, get to know it before you graduate. Find out what specific jobs are growing and which are being eliminated. If today’s job market is competitive, just think of how it’ll be when you graduate. Luckily you have plenty of time to get a jump on finding a career that’s right for you.

Family dinners are important. It’s a time to sit down as a family and talk about what is going on in each person’s life. While your life as a student might be hectic, time with your family doesn’t have to be sacrificed on the altar of academia.

If you plan it out in advance, you can easily make balanced meals, sit with your family, and still have time for your homework.

The key is to choose meals with little preparation or actual cooking time. Using the time your casserole is in the oven to study, or putting something in the crockpot while you go to class or work allows more flexibility in your schedule, without eating into what’s really important—time spent with your kids.

Here is a sample menu and meal-planning tips for Monday through Friday to help you out.

Monday: Crockpot Pot Roast!

Image via Wikipedia

The ultimate fix-it-and-forget-it kitchen accessory is the crockpot, also known as the slow cooker. Most dishes prepared in one of these bad boys take about eight hours, and fill your house with that awesome aroma of home cooking.

In the morning, take an inexpensive cut of beef out of the fridge (one of the great things about this cooking method is that even really inexpensive cuts come out tender, and you’ll often find such cuts on sale at the grocery store). Sear it in a little olive oil, so that all sides are brown.

Meanwhile, cut up your veggies. Use potatoes, turnips, parsnips, carrots, celery, onions, you name it! Line the bottom of the pot with them (but if you use mushrooms, wait until later on in the day to add them, as they can get, well, mushy, otherwise).

Put the meat on top of the veggies. Then, stir some soup mix, like French Onion, into ½ to 1 cup of water. Pour it over the meat and vegetables.

Cook on the 8-hour setting. Just before serving, you may want to drain out the liquid, and make some gravy by adding flour or cornstarch and cooking it on high on the stove until it thickens. Otherwise, serve it au jus.

Tuesday: Leftovers Done Differently

Image via Wikipedia

Pot roast again? Not quite. Reinvent your left over meat and vegetables in a sandwich or salad.

Slice up the left over meat and lay some cheese over it. Put it in the microwave until the cheese melts, and serve it on toast with your favorite fixins. Alternatively, leave it cold and toss the meat in a salad with bell peppers, onions, and Parmesan cheese.

If that isn’t enough food for your growing eaters, make a salad (if you chose to make sandwiches!) and heat up any left over veggies as well.

Wednesday: Indoor Grilling!

If you live in an apartment, consult your local ordinances before grilling on a balcony. If it’s allowed, then great. If not, there are ways to grill all year round in your kitchen.

The George Forman grill can be a lifesaver, as can a cook top grill pan, which is a pan with ridges that goes over your burners, in the same way as a griddle.

Pick up some fish, either fresh or frozen, any variety–though cooking times will vary given the density of the fish. Ask in the Meat & Fish department how long it should cook on each side, and whether or not it has bones when you buy it.

Sprinkle your fillet with lemon pepper, and grill it skin-side down, if the skin has been left on.

If you have kids who are old enough, designate them as the master grillers of the house, and let them cook the food for once!

Serve it up with some steamed veggies and rice.

Image via Wikipedia

Thursday: Breakfast for Dinner?

Breakfast for dinner, sometimes called brinner, can be a great and cheap way to get protein into your family’s tummies. Make a big batch of scrambled eggs, adding whatever you like, such as cheese, ham, onions, peppers, spinach—anything you have in the house, really.

Serve it with everything you normally would, such as bacon, sausage, and toast.

If there are leftovers, eat ‘em for breakfast the next day!

Friday: Casserole Night

There is a plethora of casserole recipes out there. Everything from salmon noodle to zucchini cheese will come up when you Google it. Try out a different recipe each week until your family picks a few of their favorite standbys.

One easy recipe to get you started has three main ingredients: chicken, canned soup, and rice.

Mix one cup of rice with two cans of cream of anything soup (for example, broccoli cheese or cream of mushroom) and one can of water. Pour it in a glass or metal 8×12” pan. Lay enough chicken breasts for your family–either cut in slices or whole–over the mixture, and spoon some of it on top. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

And the Weekend?

Grilled cheese sandwiches and Chinese take out.

Of course, this is just a suggestion. But the bottom line is that planning ahead can be a big aid, especially when you know that you have a test or project coming up, which will necessitate extra time studying. On those days it is especially important to conserve your time, but also to de-stress with your family.

Since college students main concerns always have to do with money and transportation, a scooter is definitely the most cost effective way for students to get around campus. With the Internet so huge with classified ads like your Ebay’s, Craigslist’s, etc…out there, scooters are more affordable than ever. In most cases you don’t even need a motorcycle license to drive one and a written test is all that is needed.

Scooter Costs

Let’s Talk Money! You can literally buy new scooters for less than $350 where a traditional brand new cheap car runs at least $10,000. Now let’s get to insurance. Car insurance especially for many college aged students can get over $2,000/year where scooter insurance can be as little as or less than $100/year.

Gas. Ha! Not only are there electric scooters that don’t require any gas, but gas powered scooters can get as much as 150 miles per gallon and sometimes even more than that. And electric motor scooters are fueled by rechargeable batteries that typically last for 25 miles and larger models can travel greater distances.

Go Green. Love the environment too? In some ways the rise of motor scooter use is attributed to the growing number of people with a concern for the environment. Yes the low costs are great, but this is a way better option than a car if you are going green. Again gas powered scooters are super cost effective and electric scooters speak for themselves.

Not for Sissies. And scooters are like they were in the old days with little power or acceleration either. The basic motor scooter models that are simply a traditional scooter with a small electric or gas motor installed run between 10 and 15 mph; however with the growth in demand of scooters, there are manufacturers that make 850cc models can go over 120 miles per hour. Yeah, fast!

Long-Term Investment. If you’re planning on living in a large commuter based city like Los Angeles, take the scooter with you and you might never need a car, ever! If it rains you can always take public transportation too which is also cost effective and is better for the environment. And just like traditional motorcycles, you’ll find scooters also don’t depreciate in value like cars either. Need we say more?

Storage. You can also easily store scooters in tight places. Sneak it in your dorm room. Well maybe that’s overboard, but is has been done before. You may also want to use your scooter not only for getting to class but running quick errands the grocery store.

All in all motor scooters are an exceptional solution for college students due to low costs, green energy savings, investment purposes, etc… As a result of the growing popularity of motor scooters, manufacturers have released many new and diverse models, which is only another benefit for the consumers.

Want to earn extra cash while in college? Don’t want a nagging boss? Well this is what you are you are waiting for, an opportunity for you to start your own business – a dorm room cleaning business. One of college students biggest complaints is the mess they have in there small dorm living environments. A dorm cleaning business is simple to launch for you can put it up within the premise of your own dorm room, requires minimal business start up but large return in investment, high stability in rating and you can have the experience to manage your own business. When other students find out about how good you do and how cheap your rates are, it will naturally grow and you could have other students helping you by the end of the first month.

Remember that dorm rooms are small, so get a quick and easy system going so you can efficiently get through as many rooms as you can in your spare time.

Tips to making your cleaning business efficient:

1. Starting with garbage is always the best idea as that will remove the clutter and give you a better idea of your attack plan.

2. Next, remove everything from counters, dressers, etc….so you can clean and sanitize quickly.

3. Floors last. Always do the floors last and start the floor cleaning in the part of the room furthest away from the door so you’re not redoing areas that you’ve already done. Remember, efficiency is the key.

Have a good marketing strategy! Instead of charging a flat $10 per room, mix it up a little. Offer rates from $5-$15. $5 gets the garbage removed only. $10 gets the garbage removed and everything straightened and counters cleaned. $15 includes a full clean including floors, counters, and garbage. Also offer discounts for monthly services or bi-weekly services. Remember, college students are always strapped for money as it is, so try to get as much business as you can at a low rate first and get a good customer base going.

The advantages to starting up your own campus cleaning business are endless from a high rate of income return, activating your social relationships, easy to learn, and being able to manage your own business. Yep you read it right, low investment but high rate in income return; this is the business that though you’ll get dirty upon cleaning commercial and residential buildings, you can earn big that largely to suffice your living. Social networking of commercial and residential people for your business is challenging for you can meet different people with different ideas to share for your business as learning customer behavior which will help you to scrutinize what to fill in for cleaning business. It is simple and affordable but yet you can have large return in your investment.

This is the fulfillment of your desire wanting to manage your own business while in college and making extra money for things you want. You can also put this on your resume so future employers can see that you are a self-starter that requires little training.
